Our Compostable MailersUpdated 5 months ago

How do I compost the mailer?

Like coffee, our packaging can be composted in your own backyard!

Here's a quick primer. First, cut off the mailing label to remove it from your Trade bag and discard. Unfortunately, the mailing label isn't compostable. Next, add the bag and coffee grounds to your home bin (or deposit at your preferred drop-off). Then, moisten and turn your compost until it becomes rich soil.

What are your compostable mailers made out of?

Our compostable bags are made from a combination of PBAT and PLA. PBAT is a compostable bio-based polymer. PLA is derived from renewable plant materials such as field corn and wheat straw. The PLA used in our mailers makes up only 0.05% of the annual global corn crop, making it an incredibly low-impact resource. Our mailers are certified for at-home compostability within 180 days with a maximum film thickness of 63µm - ours are 61 µm thickness to ensure they'll break down in your backyard compost pile!
